利勒沙（Feyisa Lilesa）接受巴西電視體育頻道（SporTV）專訪指出，里約奧運閉幕式獲頒銀牌後，利勒沙就脫離衣索比亞代表隊，沒有返回奧運村，而是躲在里約某旅館。
利勒沙表示，住在美國的朋友已幫他預訂該處旅館，閉幕式結束後，利勒沙就拿出葡文地址，搭計程車到旅館。
利勒沙表示，衣索比亞政府正在屠殺其族人，「衣索比亞有很多族裔，但只有1個族裔掌權，而這個族裔正在殺害其他族群。」
